Our Story

Name of Furbaby: Archie Russell the French Bulldog

Name of Furbaby’s Human: Kristy Russell

Name of Furbaby’s Doctor: Dr Mandy Burrows

Archie was about six months old when I noticed his paw pads were red, raw and lumpy. I would wake up to find him with blood in the folds of his face because he had been scratching so hard. He had many ear infections, as well as diarrhea with traces of blood.

It was really upsetting seeing him suffer. I tried so many different shampoos, creams and food changes to try and find something that helped. At one point I bought him some baby bonds socks so that he couldn’t lick the various creams off his feet. He wasn’t very happy about that!

I saw a couple of vets. One suggested a lifetime of steroids, which is not what I wanted for him. I changed our general vet, and was then introduced to Dr Mandy.

Diagnosis

Archie had two very different issues – a dermatology issue and a gastrointestinal issue. Mandy was extremely thorough in her approach. She asked a lot of questions about our home and Archie’s diet, and then gave me suggestions on how to alter it.

Treatment

Mandy recommended us to see Dr Fleur at Osborne Park in relation to Archie’s gastrointestinal issues. After an endoscopy, we realised the issue could be treated with antibiotics in 6 weeks! Mandy recommended that Archie have a full allergy test, but with the time of year and also his improvements (thanks to his better gut health), she suggested we see how his overall health improved. That was 6 months ago and so far so good!

Resolution

Archie is 1000 times better! Not only has the itching and ear issues reduced, but once we identified the cause of his gastrointestinal issues, he could finally eat like a normal dog. He put on weight, his eyes were brighter, and his coat was shinier. He has so much more energy.

Why we love ADC

Mandy (and her team) are extremely passionate and thorough with their questions. Mandy wouldn’t stop until she had answers. The whole team at ADC are just so caring! Archie is always excited to go in there (amazingly haha). It’s probably because he gets so much attention. I could not recommend the ADC highly enough. I have referred many friends who have pets with unexplained issues to Dr Mandy. They have a really high level of attention, care and expertise. I absolutely love that they have been able to help my little buddy, and I want that experience for all pet owners.
