Why we came to ADC

Mokey had had ear infections since she was young. Each time she had become a bit subdued, we would take her back to the vet, and she had come back with her ears cleaned, and a prescription for drops and antibiotics. Over time, we realised that she was unhappy and sleepy, and just not herself; she would flinch when we tried to pat her, and she was very irritable.

Our vet mentioned Animalius to us, and we took Mokey to see the wonderful team, there. Once there, Mokey had camera inserted to her ear canals, which revealed a deep-seated issue (which our regular vet would never have been able to see). The Dr. diagnosed the problem; provided initial relief, and an ongoing treatment plan. Mokey was treated like royalty and came home in a bubbly mood.  We realise that she has been almost deaf for a long time. Now she can actually hear us (just chooses not to!).

Diagnosis and Treatment

CT, Deep ear flush, bilateral myringotomy with deep middle ear irrigation, culture and sensitivity testing of middle ear exudate, topical ear medications,  (Enrofloxacin/Dex/Saline), systemic antimicrobial therapy

Resolution

Mokey had chronic relapsing ear infections for four years. On CT scan there was evidence of chronic changes in the bones of the middle earstympanic bulla, with fluid evident in the middle ear. in the cavities. Bilateral myringotomy using the oto-endoscope permitted safe collection of middle ear exudate allowed samples of the fluid tofor be collected and sent for culture and sensitivity testing and targeted drainage of the middle ear with deep flushing using the myringotomy site, plus the middle ear was thoroughly flushed. Laboratory results included confirmed a moderate growth of Pasteurella mMultocida and Staphylococcus Chromogeneschromogenes.

After treating the infection with appropriate topical and systemic ear medication and a repeat ear flush procedure to ensure no relapse of infection and healing of the myringotomy incisions, Mokey is progressing well. Her owners are incredibly happy. (And we think Mokey is too!).

Why we love ADC

The team are lovely and supportive to both patient and owners. The doctor described each step of the process, and our options, so that we could decide on the best treatment for our girl. Mokey was treated like absolute royalty at the surgery, and her ear issues are in the final stages of treatment. We feel so lucky to have found someone who could help her. She is such a sweet cat and must have been in a lot of pain before. Thanks, team!
